Extension Manager "unexpectedly quit" after initial install

I can't get Adobe Extension Manager to open at all after an initial install.  It crashes with an "unexpectedly quit" error.

I used AAMEE 3.0 to create an install package, then installed CS 6.

I moved the AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat file out of its folder and then I updated all CS 6 apps using the built-in updater.  I then put the .dat file back.

I modified the Acrobat 'FeatureLockDown' file to prevent updates.

To fix the crashing, I've tried deleting a couple of obvious Extension Manager preferences but that didn't help.   What else can I try?

I installed it on 10.6.8.
